I am offering a drawing of a character of your choosing (within reason) in the tradition of comic-book industry/fanart commissions. The drawing is in exchange for a proof of receipt for a $250 (negotiable) donation towards any pre-agreed upon organizations actively working to educate on or combat the pervasive legislative, cultural, and physical oppression and assumed superiority being instigated and maintained by the demographics, both historical and current, of which I am born and from which I benefit; male, straight, white, and non-original North American. I position myself as a traitor to the harmful ideals and systems created by these demographics from which I derive, which have by their own effort established an oppressive cultural regime of negative differentiation, suppression, and profitable hierarchy that has produced countless victims and currently endangers us all, as it always has.
Also encouraged are donations to artists, journalists or various other thinkers, activists, and individuals in need who engage with this oppression as an adversary or victim, inside or outside the comics community.
How it works:
+ Contact me with a suggested character, or I can provide a list of characters I recommend. To be discussed.
+ Indicate organization of your choosing to which you would like to donate. There are countless organizations of different sizes, missions, locations, standards, symbolism, and degrees of immediate urgency. I encourage you to look into organizations local to you. Below is a list of examples. To be discussed.
+ Shipping cost is calculated, which you pay.
+ A black and white ink drawing of the character is shipped on 9" x 12" bristol board with supported organization inscribed.
Suggested support within the comics community:
+Patreon of Zainab Akhtar - an important comics critic who was recently subject to racist and Islamophobic harassment online as the result of the LICAF festival's deeply irresponsible and completely erroneous public indignation at her pointing out their lack of representation of non-white comic professionals.
+Cartoonist Kate Beaton's fundraising for her sister's cancer treatment
